Thiessen produces blue-purple fruit, good for eating fresh or in pie, possibly the best tasting.

It has the appearance of a large, long, oval-shaped shrub, 4 m (14 ft.) high, which is maintained at a height of 2 m (6 ft.) by removing the large diameter stems.

It blooms early and produces very large fruits (up to 10 mm in diameter). Its flavor is not as sweet as that of the Smokey saskatoon.

The Jb 30 produces high yield with fruit up to 15 mm in diameter. Jb 30 berries are deep blue at maturity. They have an exceptionsl taste and moderate sugar level. This variety of Saskatoon Berry blooms in the spring and its yield is high and constant. Fruit ripen evenly on the cluster.

Harvest: Mid-July to early August. Amelanchier produces delicious berries known as Saskatoon berries. This variety is well adapted to our harsh climate. Drought tolerant, grows well in heavy soil. The berries, ranging in colour from violet-blue to purple, are high in pectin and ideal for jam and jelly making. This shrub prefers full sun and is a good landscaping choice for birds. The Amelanchier's pollination is better when another variety is planted near by.

Small, narrow tree with gray bark and semi-erect branches. The foliage is light and dense. The spring bloom is short-lived, but spectacular. The purple fruits are delicious, both for us and for the birds!  It adapts to all types of soil and is ideal for small lots. Magnificent fall colors.
